- I am an artist living in Chicago. I have always been deeply moved by the portrait work of Amedeo Modigliani- finding the women unusually beautiful and elegant. After living with these portraits on my walls mixed in with photographs of my two grandmothers for several years, I was inspired to create these "prims" (short for primitive). Each doll has a name and a lifestyle that some may deem "improper". And each is a little crazy (pazza) and, I hope you'll agree, beautiful (bella). I also explore my craftier side by creating upcycled "love bugs". These are made from 100% upcycled wool sweaters, double-stitched for extra durability. The eyes and appliques are hand-embroidered.
